Sometimes We All Need a Little ABBA

February 9, 2013May 4, 2014 / Writings By Rosemary / 3 Comments

I’m listening to ABBA’s Dancing Queen right now because last night, Hook and I watched Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.  By the end of the movie, we both wanted to hear more Mama Mia!  How many people would be willing to admit that out loud to the world?  If you live in Texas and you … Continue reading Sometimes We All Need a Little ABBA

Who Deserves Cancer?

February 2, 2013July 18, 2017 / Writings By Rosemary / 21 Comments

There’s something that’s been bothering me that I’ve been pretending doesn’t bother me and every time it comes up, I get a little more pissed than the last time it came up.  It would seem that if I just wrote about it here that this might relieve some of the tension or perhaps help me … Continue reading Who Deserves Cancer?

Where In Australia – Part II

January 26, 2013November 13, 2013 / Writings By Rosemary / 5 Comments

I'm on a quest this morning.    Actually, I'm back on a quest, a re-quest.  Ha!  I'm also on a coffee high so if this blog sounds like I'm bouncing off the walls, it's just the caffeine working its way into my fingers! Okay, the quest. Before Hook's and my sabbatical detour into no-where-near-Australia took place, … Continue reading Where In Australia – Part II

Austin and Australia Hook-Up

January 20, 2013February 9, 2014 / Writings By Rosemary / 8 Comments

There is a slogan heard throughout my city:  Keep Austin Weird.  I'll admit we are a strange brew, an idiosyncratic bunch, concocting good times acceptable only to those who live here.  But never in all of my city's weirdness did I expect to find that my other favorite weird place, Australia, has been tangled up … Continue reading Austin and Australia Hook-Up

Falling Down and Getting Back Up Again

January 14, 2013January 30, 2014 / Writings By Rosemary / 6 Comments

Hook hasn't fallen down so no worries there.  That title actually applies to me and I'll get to that in a moment, but first a quick update on Hook for all those Hook groupies out there. The Amazing Power of Hook's Body The last of the I.V.s was removed on Friday when Hook met with … Continue reading Falling Down and Getting Back Up Again

Thrive in 2013

January 1, 2013February 3, 2015 / Writings By Rosemary / 9 Comments

In an hour, I’ll leave the house and drive to the hospital to pick up Hook for his re-discharge. Before I left the hospital last night, I asked Hook if he had any new year's resolutions.  I half expected him to say, ‘I don’t make new year’s resolutions’.   But, I knew this second stay at … Continue reading Thrive in 2013

Who is Rosemary?

Unknown's avatarA writer, runner, and talent recruiter, I tell true tales on the stage and the page in the U.S. and the U.K. After winning two Moth StorySLAMS in Houston and London and opening at the Paramount Theatre ATX in 2024 for The Moth’s annual mainstage event, I'm returning to my writing roots. I launched two, one-act plays, The Mystery of the Plaid Shirts and the commissioned, A Pest Control Affair, via Hyde Park’s Frontera Fest. In 2025, I co-wrote my first screenplay, a comedy adventure about the intimacy needs and wants of women in the middle of their lives. My current WIP is a collection of essays + corresponding screenplay, working title *In the Land of Oz.* And ... if you’re into #Education and #Research, check out the Hook Wild Basin Endowment at WildBasin.org. Created by my late husband, Hook, and me our endowment awards up to 5 Hook Fellows $8,000/year with over 85 Hook Fellows to date. #NatureMatters.
