Here But Not Here

November 4, 2013January 16, 2023 / Writings By Rosemary / 10 Comments

"And think not, you can direct the course of love; for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course."  - Kahlil Gibran  -    -     - It started with the light bulbs and ended with the cockroach.  Two light bulbs blew out.  The first was in the master bathroom which went dark about a month … Continue reading Here But Not Here

Votary of Nature

August 28, 2013September 8, 2023 / Writings By Rosemary / 30 Comments

A lack of time continues to creep up on me and this is a now or never post so I hope it ends up making sense.  In my last blog, I said I'd be writing about God and religion with the caveat that there would be no preaching, soapboxes, or soul saving.  Given the … Continue reading Votary of Nature

It All Began with Wheat Gluten: Part II

July 28, 2013January 9, 2023 / Writings By Rosemary / 22 Comments

(Click here for It All Began With Wheat Gluten: Part I) Hook loves to brag, “I almost didn’t get a second date!” If it hadn’t been for the wheat gluten, he may not have. Neither Hook nor I were the common 20 to 30-year-olds when we met. I was 42 and Hook was 53.  His balding … Continue reading It All Began with Wheat Gluten: Part II

It All Began with Wheat Gluten: Part I

Wheat gluten.  Not the most romantic offer a man can give a woman but if the man is Hook and the woman is me, it becomes a gift that leads to falling in love which leads to marriage which leads to caring for someone until they do not need your care anymore. When Hook and … Continue reading It All Began with Wheat Gluten: Part I

Stay Tuned

May 22, 2013February 26, 2017 / Writings By Rosemary / 4 Comments

I read the other day that it’s rude for an author not to respond when comments are made on their blog.  I’d stopped responding to comments months ago because I worried it might be rude to have a public response to otherwise private people. Please know that I read every single comment even … Continue reading Stay Tuned

The Great Hook Escape

December 20, 2012January 30, 2014 / Writings By Rosemary / 8 Comments

As I sit in the hospital cafeteria and dream of life outside the walls of St. David’s, my POW-stricken husband lies in his 5th floor room being poked, prodded, picked, and occasionally pampered. With a hollowed, gaunt look of someone who has been starved and beaten, Hook’s recovery continues but his appetite struggles to rise … Continue reading The Great Hook Escape

Who is Rosemary?

Unknown's avatarA writer, runner, and talent recruiter, I tell true tales on the stage and the page in the U.S. and the U.K. After winning two Moth StorySLAMS in Houston and London and opening at the Paramount Theatre ATX in 2024 for The Moth’s annual mainstage event, I'm returning to my writing roots. I launched two, one-act plays, The Mystery of the Plaid Shirts and the commissioned, A Pest Control Affair, via Hyde Park’s Frontera Fest. In 2025, I co-wrote my first screenplay, a comedy adventure about the intimacy needs and wants of women in the middle of their lives. My current WIP is a collection of essays + corresponding screenplay, working title *In the Land of Oz.* And ... if you’re into #Education and #Research, check out the Hook Wild Basin Endowment at WildBasin.org. Created by my late husband, Hook, and me our endowment awards up to 5 Hook Fellows $8,000/year with over 85 Hook Fellows to date. #NatureMatters.
