Australians Are Fun for a Reason

October 20, 2012May 9, 2016 / Writings By Rosemary

But First:  Vashon Island I'm drinking coffee on Vashon Island in the Puget Sound while writing this blog post which I find amusing considering I made fun of Seattle in one of my previous posts.  I take back anything I wrote on the state of Washington and instead make claim that I confused it with some … Continue reading Australians Are Fun for a Reason

The Great Australian Exploration

October 6, 2012June 29, 2016 / Writings By Rosemary

When I started this blog back in April 2012, my purpose was to share with readers how the Hooks were preparing for a life overseas, what we were doing to get our lives in order, and how incredibly AWESOME this whole experience felt. A few short months into it, the blog morphed into a How … Continue reading The Great Australian Exploration

From Funk to Super: The Hook-Australian Update

September 15, 2012December 11, 2015 / Writings By Rosemary / 1 Comment

The Olympics came and went, August came and went and now, if I’m not careful, September will come and go, too. My lackadaisical attitude hit right after my last blog posting.  I’d been in a bit of a funk, the kind where you have all these different directions you could go but none of them … Continue reading From Funk to Super: The Hook-Australian Update

Gaining Everything But Australia

July 29, 2012June 22, 2017 / Writings By Rosemary / 1 Comment

God Moved to Australia and He Did Not Take Us with Him

July 1, 2012November 12, 2018 / Writings By Rosemary / 31 Comments

It is 3:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday and I am drinking a glass of champagne. I’m not celebrating anything or I’m celebrating everything. I do not know which. Earlier, I cried to no one because no one was here which is usually how I prefer to lick my wounds:  in private.  Yet here … Continue reading God Moved to Australia and He Did Not Take Us with Him

Who is Rosemary?

Unknown's avatarA writer, runner, and talent recruiter, I tell true tales on the stage and the page in the U.S. and the U.K. After winning two Moth StorySLAMS in Houston and London and opening at the Paramount Theatre ATX in 2024 for The Moth’s annual mainstage event, I'm returning to my writing roots. I launched two, one-act plays, The Mystery of the Plaid Shirts and the commissioned, A Pest Control Affair, via Hyde Park’s Frontera Fest. In 2025, I co-wrote my first screenplay, a comedy adventure about the intimacy needs and wants of women in the middle of their lives. My current WIP is a collection of essays + corresponding screenplay, working title *In the Land of Oz.* And ... if you’re into #Education and #Research, check out the Hook Wild Basin Endowment at WildBasin.org. Created by my late husband, Hook, and me our endowment awards up to 5 Hook Fellows $8,000/year with over 85 Hook Fellows to date. #NatureMatters.
